Dispatches From the Road

I uploaded a post via my phone around 10pm, and it hasn't shown up. Sooooo, here's some pictures from my journey back home.

The van is giving me trouble, so I'm not even close to being home yet!

You can count some cars on the New Jersey Turnpike, I just took the picture for you to do so. :)



Didn't catch the Welcome to Delaware sign, but this sign is all I need to see to know that I'm in the First State:

Maryland sign. FYI, it seems that if you want to be the Governor of Maryland, you stand a much better chance if you've spent some time as the Mayor of Baltimore! ;)



The Susquehanna River, which leads to the Chesapeake Bay, not far from this locale.



Maryland House rest stop. Sometime in the past four years, this has had a major revamp. It provided me with yet another delicious Phillip's seafood meal.



In the DC rush hour, I snapped this picture near Fort Meade, Maryland.



The blurry Virginia sign, because like most of the other pictures, I just point the camera in the general direction and shoot while driving about a dozen times, hoping to get something decent!

And I have not exited the state yet. The left front tire either lost a weight or needs to be realigned. Yay.

Wal Mart Your Zone $500.00 Gift Card Contest!

For several months now, I have participated in WalMart 's Beyond Eleven Moms, a collective of bloggers who partner with WalMart to give feedback on products already in stores and ideas about products that the company can offer in their stores. Last month, I was approached to help test out a new product line in the stores. Many retailers offer room decor for youngsters and college students, but affordable furniture, bedding and decor for teens was hard to find. Enter Your Zone ! We were sent a $500.00 WalMart gift card and given a mission: redo a bedroom whatever way you like within that amount for your teen. If you asked me to do it anywhere else, I think I could buy a bed and a dresser and be done. The whole point of Your Zone is that your teen can change things without breaking the bank. First up, let's find a bed! The beds the boys have are the bunk beds we bought at Ikea back when Chef graduated out of a crib.

Webmaster Alex speaks Anonymously

**Please note, this post was written in 2008, over 7 years ago.  This is not current, but remains to detail the DISboards bannings.** The other day, I wrote of my banning from the Disboards, a site I belonged to for six years. I was banned for participating in another site, as were approximately 35 others. The list will be posted further in this entry. If you skip this post because it doesn't mean anything except to the participants, I don't mind. This is mainly out there for the hundreds (over 7,500 now!**) of Google searches that have been directed to my blog since the bannings. Lord knows, anytime anyone asks a question on the Disboards, it'll be poofed faster than you can say "delete." Curiously, I received an anonymous comment that rambled on and on.
